Watch the video first. This blew my mind, the people at BMW are really thinking outside the box. The potential to make an extremely aerodynamic, and practical car with this technology is great. They could morph the aerodynamics of the body for any driving situation. I could imaging covering the wheel openings at speed, then opening them when you turn off the car to allow easy maintenance access. Or air vents that open and close to adjust for current cooling requirements. These moving parts could be implemented without the number of seems and edges required with conventional metal or plastic construction, which means better aerodynamics.
